Ridiculous

The guys in charge of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces in Egypt are not making a good impression of themselves. Reading this makes you think that they are really not a very bright bunch.

They arrest a group of female protesters in Tahrir Square on March 9 and they think that these women are going to falsely accuse them of raping them, so what do they do? They subject them to forced virginity tests.

Amnesty International's secretary general, Salil Shetty rightly said that this doesnt make any sense.

What kind of idiot would commit torture and sexual abuse to avoid being accused of rape? This is not clever to say the least.

The military council dude who met the amnesty sec gen spoke again... and made things worse. He said that women seeking to work for the army are required to undertake ‘virginity tests’!

Isn't this a bit perverted? Why should any woman applying for any job be subjected to this?

Scandelous

Sumiati Binti Salan Mustapa was a 23 year old Indonesian maid in Saudi Arabia. The woman who employed her cut off part of her lips with scissors, scalded her back with an iron, fractured her middle finger, and beat her legs until she could hardly walk.

There was a big outcry in Indonesia when her story was out and her employer was jailed for three years after being found guilty of torture.

Indonesia appealed against the three-year jail term given to the woman for stabbing, beating and burning her maid, and slammed the sentence as being "too light."

But today, a Saudi court acquitted the employer!

Disgusting.

I am not a fan of the Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit. In fact, I think his IQ puts him in the "mentally challenged" category. I'll tell you why, since you ask:

The European Parliament voted for a resolution criticizing Egypt's human rights record.



It called on Cairo "to end all forms of harassment, including judicial measures, detention of media professionals and, more generally, human rights defenders and activists."

Michael Emerson, of the Center for European Policy Studies went further by calling the the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak "a five-star autocrat who is indeed suppressing expression of different democratic political party preferences."

Now that's a difficult situation for Abul Gheit because as Foreign Minister he has to respond to such accusations which are basically true.

But look how he responded

He decides to make a fool out of himself by saying that, "Egypt is deeply concerned at the deteriorating state of the rights of religious and ethnic minorities and immigrants on the European continent."

What is this guy about? Religious and ethnic minorities in Europe get a by far better treatment than what they get in their countries of origin.

What is even more absurd and irritating is that the fucking Muslim Brothers welcomed the European resolution. What do the MB's know about human rights. If they ever get to power they will turn Egypt into a Taliban state and they will commit far more human rights abuses than Mubarak, so I just wish all these dick heads would shut up. It would be much better for my mental well being.

Sex, Torture & Morality

Malaysia's health minister resigned today after admitting he had been secretly filmed having sex with a female friend in a hotel room.

Well consensual sex isn't a crime, on the contrary it is an act of love, but the Malaysian minister resigned because he is a married man and as such, having an extra-marital relationship might be seen by some as immoral.

That's all fine. My question is: how come nobody resigned in Egypt despite all the torture videos that have been out?

Is sex between two consenting adults worse than torture?

So would an Egyptian minister resign if he was filmed having sex?

Our ministers are fucking ugly so for any woman, sex with any of them is the worst kind of torture, worse than Emad El Kabir's ordeal.

Tricky One

Interesting drama going on after blogger Wael Abbas published his latest torture video.

I will try to be as brief as possible. The torture video of a man brutally hitting a woman and forcing her to take her clothes off, was anonymously sent to Abbas, who published the audio on youtube. The audio was accompanied by still images of the attack. Wael said that he didn't publish the whole video to protect the identity of the victim and that the sender of the clip claimed that the assailant was a police officer (he had what appeared to be a gun wedged in the back of his pants).

Then Wael was a interviewed on an Al Mihwar TV show during which the channel decided to show the video.

The host of the show appeared to try to discredit the blogger by:
1- Raising the possibility that this may not be a police torture video (How can anyone be sure that the attacker was actually a policeman?)
2- Implying that Abbas is waging an unfair campaign against the police.

(Note that Abbas exposed several REAL police brutality cases on his blog)


It is clear that the video was not shot in a police station. It was in a flat bedroom and the weirdest thing appears on the video that was shown on TV; while the attack was taking place the dick head in the picture (above) walks in front of the camera and waves his hands wearing an extremely moronic smile on his face and a voice (probably the guy holding the camera, is heard saying: "keep your voice down guys" - when the woman screams in pain after receiving powerful blows to the face. During the TV show the following theories were suggested:

1- Maybe the assailant is a pimp attacking a prostitute and therefore the police has nothing to do with this.

2- Maybe the police themselves leaked this faked video to Wael and they now plan to prove that this is a faked video in front of a court and accuse Abbas of publishing false information which could lead to his imprisonment. (You might think that the Egyptian authorities would be stupid to jail a high profile blogger like Wael, but (a) they are stupid and (b) after what happened to Kareem Amer, anything is possible.)

3- Maybe the video is indeed a police brutality case.

A human rights lawyer has filed a case calling for a full investigation. So we'll see what happens. Amazing shit.

Crush Fetish and Double Penetration of Egyptians

The great Egyptian blogger Wael Abbas recently published new police torture videos.

In one of these videos a detainee is sitting on the floor in a police station with his hands tied behind his back while a policeman kicks him in the face.

It is amazing that despite the furor that resulted from previous leaked torture videos, police officers in Egypt continue to produce and circulate such images.

Either these officers are extremely stupid, which is very possible. or most of them have a sexual perversion called crush fetish, where the guy with the camera gets aroused by watching others crush weaker beings and then passes on the video to fellow fetishists till it leaks to Wael Abbas.

The average Egyptian now finds him/herself screwed by both Islamists who want to turn Egypt into a more fucked up version of Iran and a brutal corrupt government that will use any means at its disposal to hang on to power.

This double screwing that the average Egyptian is subjected to is referred to in porn literature as DP "Double Penetration".

Stupid me

Just one day after two Egyptian policemen were convicted of torturing a man, another 22 year old man gets beaten to death by policemen in Giza.

If this happened in any slightly civilized country, governments would fall, ministers and top officials would be sacked and people would be demonstrating in the streets.

Like most Egyptians I was happy with the conviction of the two policemen thinking that it will send a strong message to other torturers. How stupid and naiive I was.

Brutal

Egyptian bloggers made a huge fuss over the famous sodomizing case. Fair enough. Shukran to all blogers and blogerettes who spoke out against it.

But this case is much worse. I wonder how much outrage this will stir. I wonder if anyone will be prosecuted and if justice will be served. Rest in peace Nasr Ahmed Abdallah.

This comes just a few days after police officers in Siwa doused a man with alcohol and then set him on fire to extract a confession.

Harming the national interest.... again

An Aljazeera journalist was handed a six month prison sentence for "harming the country's national interest by fabricating torture scenes for a documentary."

Howaida Taha was producing a documentary about police brutality in Egypt. In this documentary she reenacted some torture scenes, which is a common technique (not the torture I mean the reenactment) used by documentary makers around the world, but the Egyptian government called this fabrication, i.e. they say she intended to use the reenactment scenes as if they were real torture scenes.

A couple of observations on this. How can they tell how she was going to use the reenactment scenes before the documentary was even produced? If she had really intended to misuse the reenactment scenes this would have been a big professional mistake. Now if a journalist or any other professional commits such a mistake they get punished or even fired, but not go to jail. Also, why didn't the government sue Al Jazeera? Wasn't she working for them and ultimately the channel is responsible for what they produce and put out on air.

The worrying thing in this case is that it looks like the Egyptian government is trying to scare anyone who dares to even think about speaking out against any form of corruption. They have done a good job, the Egyptian blogosphere recently lost two of it's best bloggers, Big Pharaoh and Sandmonkey and although the number of readers of this blog is embarassingly low, I feel intimidated too, because according to their twisted idiotic logic, I could be guilty of harming the reputation of Egypt if I blog about what I really think of the Egyptian government and officials

And finally, accusations such as harming the "reputation" or the "national interests" of Egypt are really sickening. Who is harming the reputation and interests of Egypt, the corrupt officials, judges and policemen or the journalists who report on them?

A matter of reputation

It's interesting that Egyptian bloggers are inncreasingly being subjected to accusations of tarnishing Egypt's reputation.

In reality nobody is tarnishing the reputation of Egypt more than the Egyptian government.

A Warning to Egyptian Bloggers

Egypt's interior minister on Friday accused those reporting cases of alleged police torture of being part of an 'unpatriotic campaign' to tarnish the country's police forces.

Habib Al Adly warned Egyptians against using the internet to jeopardise national security.

Al Adly said during an interview on Egyptian TV that:

Information posted on the internet that poses a hazard to the government is a very dangerous crime - a crime of which its victims include individuals, the state and its institutions.

The minister clearly believes that bloggers are conspiring against the Egyptian police. If you ask me, conspiracy theories are bullshit.

In fact, I'm convinced that all concpiracy theories were invented by a few people in a room somewhere, this is why I don't agree with the minister that there is a conspiracy against his ministry.

You see, bloggers (unlike me) are usually very computer savvy and clever with handling anything that is made out of zeros and ones, so how can their publishing on the internet of the police torture videos that they got their hands on be any less mysterious or unexplained?

I hope I'm not upsetting anybody here. I wouldn't want to make anyone from the police angry, but if I inadvertently did then .... good :)

Competitive peeing

When I was at school kids would compete to outdo each other by peeing ever higher up a wall. It seems rediculous, but at the time it really mattered who could pee higher.

I remembered this when I saw how Egyptian officials and judges have been competing lately on who can be the stupidest*. There has been some really first class stupidity demonstrated lately. I wonder who scored higher? The asshole dealing with the Bahai case or with the detained blogger Kareem Amer or with the Muslim Brothers or the Farouk Hosni veil crisis. Did I miss anybody? I'm sure I did.

* I should say most stupid rather than stupidest, but google apparently has more hits for stupidest than most stupid and as long as we are talking about Egyptian officials then WTF.

No Torture in Egypt

A man deported from Canada to Egypt in September was reportedly tortured by authorities. The unidentified man went to Canada in 2002 seeking asylum. He reportedly made a refugee claim, alleging he was persecuted in his home country, but was deported in September. The man says he suffered injuries inflicted by Egyptian authorities during interrogations. He claims he was shocked, doused with water and beaten. Egypt's ambassador to Canada says no one is persecuted and torture is a very serious crime, which no one condones.

No comment.

Even terrorists must not be tortured

According to this Human Rights Watch has asked President Husni Mubarak to immediately order a retrial for three men convicted of playing a role in the October 2004 terrorist attacks in Sinai resort town of Taba. The three men were sentenced to death but HRW says that serious allegations of torture and forced confessions, as well as prolonged incommunicado detention and lack of consultation with counsel, raise significant doubts about the fairness of the trial.

The Egyptian government must learn how to be civilized an what a fair trial means. These guys may be terrorists and may be guilty, but if you torture the shit out of them and deny them their rights then the whole trial becomes null and void. You can't do this kind of shit in the fucking 21st century and expect to get away with it.
