Tony Blair

The British prime minister Tony Blair resigned today and will take up a new role as "International Middle East Peace Envoy".

I don't know how useful this will be, but George Galloway made an interesting comment:

It's like appointing Count Dracula as head of the blood transfusion services


Britain is a country where prime ministers stay in power for a long time (relatively). Since Mubarak came to power in 1980, only four British prime ministers took turns:

Margaret Thatcher: 1979-90
John Major: 1990-97
Tony Blair: 1997-2007
Gordon Brown: today
